POEM: 1-4-2014
An ekphrastic poem:
THE AFGHAN GIRL
Piercing sea-green eyes
Accuse us of atrocities
Pashtun’s pride, Sarbat Gula
Smile less, La Gioconda
Red scarf flying in tatter
Fleeing the gunship helicopter
Alone in Nasir Bagh squalor
At twelve, a helpless victim of war
Made immortal by Steve Curry
Forlorn waif that time could not bury

Packs a powerful punch! Love the lack of punctuation, as if unconstrained, uncontained. Love it!
