Day 19 :
One Day
I sat with my kindle and tea
sipping and reading under a tree.
A woman came and stood watching me
"Have you seen my daughter?" she said
"She went to play near the river ."
She spoke without moving her lips
I felt a shiver run up my spine
She walked toward the bridge
leaned over and fell in
It was the mother who died every spring
She never did find Marilyn
In throes of pain she would rise
to kill herself in in dejection
Mary Lee in hope of finding Marilyn
would live and die each spring
I woke with a start thinking of Marilyn
who was twice removed but a kin
