A poem can be unaware
Yet get under your skin
A poem can be idyllic
Yet make you aware of pitfalls
A poem can be innocent
Yet lead you to arousal

Poetry can be timid
Yet be laced with irony
Poetry can be a helping hand
Yet will yank you to reality
Poetry although natural
Yet be sublime

The poet maybe self-effacing
Yet have selfish intentions
The poet may give you mundane
Yet be a reality check
The poet will help you
Yet be adding to his universe
