Twilight Years
Twilight Years
Age crept into my life to quietly settle
Erasing time so as not to face
Erosion of self , a daily battle
Passage of life slowing to a snails pace
After a flight of hours , exhausted
We exchange addresses , I forgot mine
I smiled with terror , my vision blurred
So this is how we begin to decline
Once walking into a hotel lobby
I saw this old lady staring at me
She seemed distinctly familiar , happy
I advanced , she turned to glass with glee
As each phase unfolds , I control my fears
And wait patiently in my twilight years
