Jimmy lived in the House of Shades

He changed it to House of Spades

People agreed it was better than the shadows

Across the street lived his queen of heart

From whom he could never stay apart

As children they had played in the meadows

He gave her ring with a huge diamond

Of course he knew that made him in demand

They went to the club dressed in laces and bows

Their car was stopped outside the club

They had crossed the bridge and faced trump

Ran out of patience , for blackjack and poker
